World Bank Study Overview

Background
The World Bank conducted three corporate surveys in Thailand to examine the effects of the Asian crisis started in 1997. This dataset is based on the second survey, which was conducted from November 1998 to February 1999 together with 4 other Asian nations.

Coverage
The survey in Thailand covers 652 manufacturing companies from 5 sectors (garments, electronics, textiles, food, and auto parts). The survey is composed of 5 sections (1. General information, 2. Impact of regional crisis, 3. Corporate finance, 4. production and investment, and 5. Human resources), and includes both quantitative and multiple-choice questions. Though the dataset is essentially cross section at the moment of the survey, some retrospective questions are included.
